Madonna And Guy Richie

The media are having a field day with the latest divorce proceedings of Madonna and Guy Richie, as if anyone would expect Madonna to go quietly.

As usual, what the media don’t know they make-up, telling us one thing and then completely contradicting themselves with the next story.

Firstly, Madonna was said to be heading straight for New York, now that’s changed and she apparently intends to stay in Britain, although one of the reports last week said that Mr Richie’s refusal to move to NY was the reason for the breakdown of the marriage.

Another reason for the split was said to be the gruelling exercise routine, that the 50-year-old diva sticks to.  Firstly it was two-hours a day which has now doubled to four-hours a day, which could be the reason why she is turning into a bloke!

The door is now left open for Madonna and the other alleged man in her life Alex Rodriguez, to continue their supposed relationship.  Rodriguez’s wife filed for divorce in July, citing Madonna as one of the reasons for the end of her marriage, which was denied at the time by the singer.

One thing is for sure, Rodriguez is a good looking bloke, never could see the attraction in Richie!

Recent reports suggest that an announcement is imminent of the divorce of Madonna and Guy Richie and with the latest revolutions about the Diva’s demands, you have to feel sorry for the bloke!

Her latest demands were issued when she invited the Swedish pop singer Robyn to open some of her European concerts.

Robyn apparently told her hometown newspaper that,

“not to approach Madonna, not to speak to Madonna and, above all, no pictures…”

The more money that woman earns the more of an ego she has it seems.  She continuously insults her guests by these demands and her attitude is turning many of her fans away.

In July, Madonna made an appearance at the Live Earth concert where she demanded that any interviews backstage maintained the following;

“Eye contact must be maintained at all times.  Never look down to check notes – all questions must be memorised or the interview will be terminated.”

According to a report after the concert, her rep said that she had asked not to do any interviews and that she knew nothing of the demands!

James Morrison has described Madonna as rude after meeting her for the first time in Los Angeles,

“I’m not her biggest fan but thought I’d say hello so I went over and said, ‘Hello, I’m James, nice to meet you’, and put my hand out to shake hands.  She just looked at it and said, ‘And what do you do?’  I told her I was a singer and she just stared at me and didn’t say anything.

It was really uncomfortable.  Then she just ignored me.  F**k her, though, it’s just common courtesy.  It doesn’t matter what someone does for a living.  She’s just rude.  There’s no excuse for it”

This week Madonna has reached the big 50, you would think it was the first time it had ever happened to anybody.

Anyone with the money that Madonna has, can also afford to look good at fifty, she is definitely not going to age gracefully.

Madonna has been the hub of many rumours over the years, referring to her cosmetic surgery procedures and once said “I am not going to have a press conference if I have plastic surgery”.

she has admitted in the past to Intraceutical skin infusions, which is an oxygen therapy said to produce a glowing, youthful complexion.

At fifty, I agree she looks good and I would probably do the same in her position, but where do you stop.  There must surely be a time when you face the fear of being unable to smile in case the thin,taut skin that is actually left, splits or you turn into that scary woman ‘The bride of Weissenstein’.

It Is Twenty five years since Madonna’s first UK top ten hit Lucky Star, this was promptly followed in 1984 by her first number one Like A Virgin. Throughout her career Madonna has kept pace with musical trends and while not always at the forefront of new music, somehow manages to make it feel like her own, such as Ray Of Light and more recently 4 Minutes.

In an attempt at groundbreaking journalism the Daily Mail today, reports that they have sent journalists to Malawi where Madonna is allegedly awaiting the adoption of three year old Mercy James, to get a scoop on the brother they left behind.

The Mail tracks down the Father of Madonna’s adopted son David only to find that the penny pinching Queen Of Pop has never offered to support the Father or his family.

One thing that Madonna has certainly done in her career is feed the ever hungry media with plenty of headline stories and it always gets me how the press build these people up and then do everything possible to discredit them.

Needlessly the story reports that David’s father ‘can only hope to earn £26 a year.’ The paper suggests that Madonna probably tips more than that when dining at ‘celebrity haunt San Lorenzo in Knightsbridge’!

But I save the worst bit until last. The Mail says that even two years after arriving in Britain, David has a sorrowful look in his eyes, as if somewhere inside him he has retained a residual memory of his difficult early months in Malawi.

Absolute drivel, just what this type of journalism expects to achieve I have no idea.

I doubt that it will bother Madonna too much, at fifty she is still on top of her game, the Queen Of Pop is not even considering taking it easy once she hits the Big Five O, as she will be continuing on the European leg of her Sticky And Sweet Tour, which kicks off at the Cardiff Millennium Stadium on August 23rd.

The Sticky And Sweet Tour will then travel to mainland Europe, starting in Nice on August 26th and finishing in Athens on September 27th. Madonna Ticketsare available from Viagogo.

The rumour mills are going into over-drive with reasons why Mr & Mrs Madge are calling it a day. Apparently Guy can’t stand the sight of his wife and finds the whole world domination superstar thing she has going an embarrassment. Now granted, any other fishnet, leotard wearing 49 year old found cavorting on stage with men young enough to be a mother to, would be embarrassing – think on Cher! – but she IS Madonna for gods sake. It’s not like she’s suddenly changed.

We all liked the idea of Madge settling down with Guy in quaint old England, shopping in M&S and walking to the local for a pint with her hubby, and I’m sure as their family grew that’s what he envisioned. Maybe even she did while the lifestyle was still a novelty, but someone as focused and determined to succeed in everything she does as Madonna, is never going to swap her Queen of Pop crown for a pair of slippers!

They now have to decide how to divide their £278.8 million fortune. Anyone want to bet Madonna will come out tops? And that Guy probably won’t care!
