Steven Gerrard has been charged with assault and affray following a disturbance at a nightclub in Liverpool on Sunday.
The 28-year-old footballer was arrested along with five other men in the early hours of Monday morning after a 34-year-old man was taken to hospital suffering from facial injuries.
Gerrard along with two of the other men will appear in court on January 23rd to face charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray.
Another footballer putting the sport into disrepute while out on a drinking session. What is the outcome likely to be if he is found guilty, hopefully prison and never being able to play football for his country again, I doubt that very much!
Meanwhile another footballer has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a collision on the M1 on Christmas day killed a father of five.
Jordan Robertson, 20, plays for Sheffield United and was thought to be changing songs on his iPod at the time of the accident.
Omar Mohamed, 38, was driving to London to collect his children who had been staying their while on school holidays, when his car was hit by Robertson. Mr Mohamed suffered a broken neck and died the next day in hospital.
There should be a total ban on iPod’s, mobile phones and Sat. Nav’s in cars, not one of these can be operated fully without taking your eyes off the road. Big sentences and Big fines are going to be the only way to stop the idiots using these tools while driving their killing machines.
Perhaps in the case of Mr Robertson, if found guilty of course, a trust fund should be set up where he provides for these fatherless children until they reach the age of 18?
