Black rapper Kanye West and one of his bodyguards were arrested on Thursday 4th September at the Los Angeles International Airport. The arrest followed an incident that saw Kanye West and his heavy-handed road manger grab a camera from a member of the paparazzi and smash it on the floor.
LA Airport police arrested 31-year-old Kanye West and his road manager/bodyguard, Don Crowley, on suspicion of vandalism. Crowley also faces a possible charge of battery.
The incident happened just prior to the black American rap star Kanye West going through a security checkpoint at an airport terminal for American Airlines.
Kanye West’s publicist has declined to comment.
A video of the incident was captured by celebrity website TMZ.com, whose cameraman was involved. It has since been posted on YouTube.
The police have apparently interviewed bystanders who witnessed the assault and Kanye West and Don Crowley will be booked at a Los Angeles Police Department station in Culver City.
Kanye West appeared at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night, which was held at Paramount Studios lot in Hollywood.

From what has been reported it seems like Kayne West and his bodyguard went completely over the top. It annoys me when celebrities act in this childish and aggressive manner. They make their millions by using papparazzi and the media, but then want to choose when someone can simply point a camera at them in a very harmless way. If the guy was seriously invading Kayne West’s privacy, then I could understand him losing his temper. But this sort of outburst should really be clamped down upon.
The six-time Grammy Award winning record producer and rapper, Kayne West has had temper tantrums in the past, including two well publicised MTV outbursts.
In 2006 he crashed the stage at the MTV Europe Music Awards and unleashed an expletive-filed tirade after his video “Touch The Sky” failed to win an award.
And after not winning at the VMAs in 2007 despite several nominations, West shouted at reporters as he vowed never to return to an MTV awards ceremony.
