Natalie Cole who won her first Grammy back in 1975 apparently disapproves of Amy’s recent awards win. At the post-Grammy party Cole was to have said that “I don’t think she should have won. I think it sends a bad message to our young people who are trying to get into the business, the ones who are trying to do it right and really trying to keep themselves together”, “We have to stop rewarding bad behaviour”.
Obviously I was wrong, but I thought the Grammys were awarded for talent, ie. best song, best album etc. There is no doubting the talent of Winehouse, there was no award offered for ideal lifestyle that i saw and i doubt there would have been many awards given in the past if that was the case.
Ms. Cole herself fell victim to drugs in her college days (mainly Heroin), and was actually busted in Canada for possession and had to stay in the Country whilst she served the probation. She managed to get off drugs for a few years and then started again so more a case of ‘pot calling the kettle black’ don’t you think.
